John Dwyer was born into a very musical household in Castletownbear, West Cork. He has composed some of the most beautiful tunes within the irish tradition, a selection of which are recorded by well known musicians and have become a part of the traditional repertoire.

In 2010, alongside his brother, John was awarded the TG4 Composer of the Year.
