Daughter of renowned sean-nós singer Michael Mháire Ghabha from Carna, Co. Galway, Caitríona was fortunate to be born into a family where song, story and music were an integral part of everyday living. She was also very much influenced by her paternal grandmother, Máire an Ghabha, who possessed a vast store of songs and lore which she generously shared with her children and grandchildren.
The rich musical nurturing was very evident when she began to compete in local competitions like Feis Charna and Féile Chomórtha Joe Éinniú and in later years with success at various adult competitions both locally and nationally.
For this her first solo recording she has not confined herself to her sean-nós reportoire but has also included more modern compositions in he country music style which has become very popular in Connemara as well as the fine northern song Craigie Hills and the classical Banks of the Nile on which she is accompanied on the pipes by the well-known singer and musician, Seán Keane.
