Gerry King was a traditional accordion player from Inishbofin, Co.Galway who sadly passed away in 2015.
Gerry often played the traditional music circuit in Galway at venues such as The Pucán, O’Malley’s, The Crane, The Bal in Salthill, An Poitin Stil, Inverin aswell as at venues in Oughterard, Clifden and Westport. While Gerry was in the army, he got the title ‘The Ard Rí’ to distinguish him from a younger recruit of the same name.
The name also spread to the trad music circuit in Galway and was chosen as the title of this CD of recordings to honour his memory and to document his contribution to the traditional Irish music legacy of Inishbofin, Co. Galway. The proceeds of the sale of this memorial CD go to Croí, The West of Ireland Cardiac Foundation.
