- Kevin Keegan - The Music Of Kevin Keegan
Description
Kevin Keegan was from East Galway and played accordion with The Aughrim Slopes Ceili Band. This band was very popular in the 1950s, and Kevin?s reputation grew as a result. When they toured America, he stayed there, settling in Chicago and later moving to San Francisco. The recordings here seem to have been privately made, although some were recorded from radio. The sound quality is not great, but the playing has a grace and exuberance that is very charming. Kevin died fairly young in 1978, and even ten years later, when I found myself in San Francisco, people there still talked about him with genuine affection. The same affection is palpable in Joe Burke?s notes for this album. |
