A Musical Vision - The Blind Tradition is an important new CD release of Irish traditional music played by a new generation of blind musicians.
Produced by Catherine McEvoy, all proceeds from this CD go to CHILD VISION Ireland, Drumcondra, Dublin 9.
As the title suggests, this CD is a compilation of music and stories performed by talented, young traditional musicians who also have a visual impairment. However, as described here by the CD’s producer Catherine McEvoy, they are traditional musicians first and blind musicians second.
Almost every corner of Ireland is represented on this compilation; Dónal Fitzpatrick,
and Darragh Ó’hÉiligh from Dublin;
Tomás Langan from Mayo;
Robert Creed from Kildare
and Caoimhe Grogan from Galway.
They play fiddle, uilleann pipes, accordion, piano, tin whistle and bodhrán.
Accompanying them on guitar and piano is the wonderful John Blake.
