A beautiful collection of traditional and folk songs from Sligo singer and musician Philip Doddy. This is Philip’s third album and the first to focus exclusively on songs. The choice of material here is of particular interest, ranging from rarely-heard and beautiful old songs to more familiar favourites, here given sensitive and eloquent interpretations. The accompaniment, provided by Caroline Locke on piano and Brian McDonagh on mandola, is especially subtle and tasteful. Philip’s own fiddle and whistle sounds are also heard occasionally on this album.
