A delightful mix of fiddle-music and songs from Sligo musician and singer Philip Doddy. The album features Philip’s eloquent and unique fiddle style on a selection of tracks ranging from rarely-heard tunes to old favourites, from lively reels and jigs to slower and quieter moments like the beautiful Mickey Finn’s Air and The Ballinacarrow Waltz. Interspersed between the tunes are five songs performed in Philip’s rich and resonant voice; songs such as The Bonny Broom or South Sligo Nocturne can quite transport you to another place and time. The accompaniment, always tasteful and fluent, is provided by Caroline Locke on piano and Seamie O’Dowd on guitar, fiddle and harmonica.
