Seán Ó Riada
Vertical Man (Remastered)

To mark the 50th anniversary of the Ó Riada's death, Claddagh Records are delighted to bring a remastered version of Vertical Man to CD for the first time ever.

Originally released in 1969 and now available for the first time on CD,VerticalMan features Sean O’Riada’s “Nomos No. 1; Hercules Dux Ferrariae” in addition to ten poems set his music to from Thomas Kinsella, John Montague, Séamus Heaney and others. The record begins with the alluring and mysterious strings of “Hercules Dux Ferrariae” before adding the voice of Bernadette Greevy and the piano playing of Veronica McSwiney on the second half. The change of instrumentation and tone, along with the introduction of lyrics and poetry from Greevy’s wonderfully sonorous voice, complements O’Riada’s virtuosity.
